Is Polymarket safe?

Last reviewed · By Louis Gherardi, editor · Nimb Markets

Polymarket is a real, large and well-funded platform, not a scam: trades settle on-chain in fully backed shares and you hold your funds in your own wallet. It is not risk-free: you can lose your whole stake on a market, rules can be disputed, smart contracts and wallets can fail, and most losses people report come from scams that imitate Polymarket. On Nimb, every trading page carries the same risk line: prediction markets can lose you your whole stake.

Is Polymarket legit?

  • Size. On 8 November 2026 its open events had about $255M traded over 7 days (statistics).
  • Backers. Investors include Intercontinental Exchange, the owner of the NYSE. What is Polymarket?
  • Regulation. Its US exchange is CFTC-regulated; its international platform is a crypto venue that blocks restricted countries. In 2022 the CFTC fined it $1.4M for offering unregistered event contracts to US users (CFTC 8478-22).
  • Transparency. Every trade and position is public on Polygon, and the market data is free to read (API guide).

Which Polymarket scams should I avoid?

  • Fake sites and ads. Lookalike domains in search ads and social posts ask you to connect a wallet and sign. Type the address yourself.
  • "Claim your airdrop" links. Until Polymarket announces a token on its own channels, any claim page is a trap. Airdrop and token.
  • Support impostors. Nobody from Polymarket or Nimb will DM you first, ask for your recovery phrase or ask you to "verify" a wallet.
  • Copy-trading and signal groups that ask for deposits, private keys or a share of profits.
  • Bots that hold your keys. A bot with your private key can move everything.
  • Wrong-network deposits. Not a scam, but a common loss: deposit sent to the wrong network.

Is it safe to trade Polymarket through Nimb?

Nimb never holds your funds and cannot move them: orders are signed in your own wallet and sent to Polymarket. Nimb reads public data, checks Polymarket's location check before every order and shows fees on their own lines. It cannot make a trade less risky. What connecting allows · How Nimb makes money.
