Polymarket whales

Last reviewed · By Louis Gherardi, editor · Nimb Markets

A Polymarket whale is a wallet with a very large position in a market; because Polymarket positions are on-chain, anyone can see them. Nimb tracks the largest public holders of every market on its map (4,586 wallets as of 8 November 2026, 18:00 UTC), nets out hedged positions and shows them as context for reading a price, not as signals to copy.

Who are the biggest Polymarket holders right now?

The 10 largest wallets across the markets on Nimb, by the current value of their net positions:

The full top 50 is on largest Polymarket holders, rebuilt every 6 hours. The 10 largest wallets hold 18% of the value Nimb tracks: on Polymarket, a few wallets often own most of one side of a market.

How does Nimb track whales?

  • Source. Polymarket's Data API lists the top holders of each outcome. Nimb fetches them for every market on the map.
  • Netting. A wallet that holds both Yes and No in the same market has a hedged position: it pays the same whatever happens and is not a view. In this build 374 of 11,877 positions were netted out. In events where only one outcome can win, No on several outcomes locks in most of its payout; only the part that is still a view is counted. See net exposure.
  • Value. Shares × the current price of the side held; a No share is worth 1 − the Yes price.
  • On the map. Turn on wallets to see grey wallet discs joined to markets by green lines (holds Yes) and red lines (holds No). Holders and wallet lines.

Is "smart money" on Polymarket worth following?

"Smart money" is a search term, not a category Nimb can measure. The evidence for copying large wallets is weak, for four reasons:

  1. The price already knows. A large position is public the moment it is taken, and the trade that built it moved the price. What a whale believes is largely in the chance you see.
  2. You see one leg. A wallet can be hedged on another venue, in another wallet or in a related market. Its Polymarket position alone can look like a big bet when it is a small net risk.
  3. Size is not skill. A wallet with $2M at stake can be wrong; many large holders have large unrealised losses. Past P&L over a few markets says little about the next one.
  4. Market makers. Some of the largest wallets provide liquidity and hold inventory on both sides across hundreds of markets. Their positions are a by-product of quoting, not a forecast.

Where holders do help: a market where one wallet owns most of one side is fragile, because that wallet's exit can move the price a long way. Nimb's Before you trade checks flag concentrated holders for this reason.

Polymarket's own leaderboard

Polymarket publishes a leaderboard of wallets by profit and by volume over a day, week, month or all time, and the same data is in its Data API (/v2/leaderboard, /v2/biggest-winners). Leaderboards rank realised and unrealised P&L across all markets; Nimb's list ranks current positions in the markets on its map. They answer different questions. To look at one wallet in detail see Polymarket wallet lookup.

What this cannot tell you

  • Who is behind a wallet. Handles are self-chosen; one person can run many wallets.
  • Why a position exists, or what is held elsewhere.
  • Whether a large trade was informed. Trading on stolen or confidential information is prohibited by Polymarket's rules and can be illegal; see insider trading on prediction markets.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Polymarket whale tracker?

Any tracker reads the same public data. Nimb's is free, covers the most active markets, nets hedged positions and links each wallet to the markets it holds; Polymarket's leaderboard covers all markets by P&L. Neither tells you a wallet is right.

Who is winning on Polymarket?

Polymarket's leaderboard shows the wallets with the highest profit for each period. Most of the money in any market is held by a small number of wallets, and profits on prediction markets are spread unevenly: one side's gain is the other side's loss, minus fees.

Can whales manipulate Polymarket prices?

A large order moves a thin market, and Polymarket's rules prohibit manipulation and wash trading. See can prediction markets be manipulated?

Are Polymarket wallets anonymous?

Pseudonymous. Addresses and positions are public; names are not, unless the owner publishes them.
